New Research Shows SNAP Reduces Hospital and ER Visits, Lowers Medicaid Costs by $2,360 per Person Annually

Higher enrollment by older adults in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is associated with fewer hospital and long-term care admissions, as well as emergency room visits. This blog provides an overview of a study that analyzed the relationship between SNAP participation and health outcomes among more than 115,000 North Carolina residents who were 65 and older.
