Ensuring COVID-19 Vaccine Equity for Children: Considerations for Pediatric Teams and Community Partners

This blog post offers considerations for pediatric medical care teams and community partners to ensure more equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution among children. COVID-19 has disproportionately affected the health of Black, Latino, and American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) children, resulting in higher infection and hospitalization rates as well as increased death rates when compared with White children. While the Biden Administration has secured enough vaccines to supply all 28 million children in the United States who are now eligible, Black, Latino, and AIAN children may still experience delays and other obstacles in receiving the vaccine in the absence of careful planning and coordination.
